But oh, that burger. There are several on the menu, but the $12 Happiest Burger, a blatant homage to the California-born In-N-Out burger, is the showstopper. Double-pattied, expertly seasoned, dripping with American cheese, canyon-deep with flavor from onion confit and a sauce touched with mustard, the burger is so terrific that it makes you wonder whether the folks in the kitchen, led by the chef Thomas Lim, huddled one day and decided to dedicate every ounce of their energy to the pursuit of cheeseburger perfection.

"They should call this place the Happiest 3 Minutes and 47 Seconds, because that's how long this burger lasts when it's in front of me,"
GUIDE: THE 20 BEST BURGERS IN NYC
The West Village is almost disturbingly full of cool bars in which to eat burgers, so you know we didn’t just slip this one on at the end for some geographic diversity. This double-stacked meat sandwich covered in melty cheese and special sauce is truly deserving of the honor. It’s exactly what you’d want to eat while slightly buzzed, which is perfect considering this place is mostly a trendy bar with some tables in the back. That being said, if you’re sober it’ll still make you pretty happy too.
THE BEST BURGERS IN MANHATTAN, ACCORDING TO OUR NATIONAL BURGER CRITIC
This burger is absolutely delicious. The double patties Voltron themselves together via the American cheese and meld in with the confit onions, pickles, and sauce to basically create a stronger, more handsome burger.
The Happiest Hour is where you go when you need an A+ burger and an A+ cocktail. This place has a fun, party-time vibe – don’t bring anyone who might inhibit you from partaking in tiki drinks and getting down with a meat sandwich.
It’s rare that the food at a cocktail bar is as good as the drinks, but the menu items at The Happiest Hour truly deliver.
“At the Happiest Hour, amid palm-tree wallpaper and a flamboyance of flamingo tchotchkes, you can still guzzle Mai Tais and hear jokes about Don Draper on vacation. The bar is a sort of baby Bungalow 8, or, as one patron described it, a place for 'young people skewing old and old people skewing young'”
"While the Happiest Hour tends to be “high-volume and boisterous,” Mr. Neidich plans to open a quieter, more sophisticated counterpart called Slowly Shirley just downstairs."
“At the vintage-resort-inspired Happiest Hour, there’s so much freedom, guests decide which spirit they’d like their drinks to showcase”
“The Happiest Hour...looks back to the midcentury resorts of California and Florida....(and) lends a distinctive flair to New York’s Greenwich Village neighborhood"
"Bars to Drink Like Your Favorite 'Mad Men’ Character: Roger Sterling: Gibson Martini at The Happiest Hour"
"We’ve found our new favorite cocktail, the Link Ray, at barkeep Jim Kearns’ latest boite, The Happiest Hour in Manhattan’s West Village.”
Get the Happiest Burger while you are there. I’ve had this burger a few times and it seems to get better every time I have it. This double patty with special sauce always hits the spot and at $12 is a bargain for NYC. Spend the extra $4 for fries, some of my favorite in the city
